He completed his PhD in 2000 at Birmingahm University in tribology in metalforming. Since then he has been involved in micro and nanotechnology along with pico to micro fluidics.He has developed portable DNA analysers and more recently sample delivery methodologies for Xray difraction experiments. He is the principal R&D engineer at the Diamond Light Source
